We can understand that learning dance can be really challenging and that, many times, classes go way too fast. Below is a playlist of videos whose purpose is to gently introduce you to tango. We strongly recommend that you spend some time on each video, watch it multiple times and actually practice it, moving your feet behind us. We also include a few videos just so you can see what's out there. We don't want you to try to work on them, we just want you to watch and enjoy. Those videos are: gancho, the kick between the legs you see in performances on tv (if you watch these), some combining of steps, even a lift.

One of the ideas we've been talking about, uh,
00:03
a lot is this idea that you should move from your center,
00:05
which I'm gonna say is about one inch above your pubic bone.
00:09
And, uh, so then I'll drop my weight down
00:13
and my center down in some sense, I'll lengthen up,
00:16
drop down, energize the
00:21
body, lengthening away.
00:23
And so then we might say
00:28
that's the arm reaching from the center.
00:35
But, uh, right now the idea we're playing with
00:43
is that not only does the arm reach from the center,
00:46
but that right here in the transition, uh,
00:48
the wrong would be this, right?
00:51
So here, even this is synchronized the arm in the body,
00:55
but it's not driven by the center.
01:13
And so here I'm thinking about the way this
01:16
and this
01:21
are connected.
01:33
And so then there's this choice that this doesn't move
01:35
with it, without this or vice versa.
01:42
And the question is, but how?
01:44
And so first I'd say, uh, lengthen up,
01:49
center down, hips down,
01:51
you can even hold here,
02:01
And then when you, especially here, when you get
02:03
to this transition, be conscious,
02:15
how's the body related
02:20
to that
02:25
beginning?
