Pivot - What to Practice - Leaders

- 00:00
- Two ideas.
- 00:01
- And these are the same as in front of Joseph actually.
- 00:03
- So the, the first idea I wanna make is this idea of pivoting
- 00:06
- through her versus around her.
- 00:08
- If I pivot around her, it looks like this.
- 00:14
- I mean, it doesn't necessarily mean she'll fall over,
- 00:16
- but notice how much I have to move my left hand
- 00:19
- and how much I have
- 00:20
- to move my right side to get her to pivot.
- 00:23
- On the other hand, if the direction is this way, then
- 00:28
- uh, gently, gently, I'm gonna push in here,
- 00:31
- but I'm pushing in, in front of her central line
- 00:34
- and here I'm gonna push back behind her center line
- 00:36
- and I'm doing that.
- 00:42
- But then you notice that that's much more subtle
- 00:44
- And it makes it a lot easier for the follower, by the way.
- 00:51
- And so here's one degree of motion,
- 00:53
- you know, here's neutral.
- 00:54
- Here's where I ended up.
- 00:56
- And frankly, um, a mom's, uh,
- 00:58
- right shoulder's a little bit
- 00:59
- less flexible than many people.
- 01:01
- So I'm actually moving more than we would normally. Yeah, my
- 01:04
- Shoulders are a lot less flexible.
- 01:09
- So that's idea number one.
- 01:10
- And then likewise, this push, I'm pushing in that line
- 01:15
- just to the back of her center line.
- 01:18
- And then I'm pulling in just
- 01:19
- to the front of her center line.
- 01:21
- Okay, so that's idea number one.
- 01:23
- And then idea number two is that ideally
- 01:25
- as we talk about this push
- 01:26
- and pull, it feels like it's the top.
- 01:29
- Even just then I did too much
- 01:30
- for my top and not enough for my bottom.
- 01:32
- And, uh, oh, that's my feet. Well, that is my bottom.
- 01:37
- But I meant to show you my hips that as we're here,
- 01:40
- if you look at the hips, ideally that comes from the hips.
- 01:44
- So I want you to notice, once again, I've shown you this
- 01:47
- before, but it bears repeating how it's the hips
- 01:49
- that are driving it, and right here, how it's the hips
- 01:54
- that are driving it.
- 01:55
- As strong as David IBBs,
- 01:56
- his hips are stronger than his arms.
- 02:00
- Well, let's say the arms are infinitely strong,
- 02:01
- but the hips are infinite times two,
- 02:03
- Right?
- 02:07
- They're bigger. Infinity I.
