Yeah.
00:00
One of the really fun things about Tango is,
00:02
how I'm gonna say freed is how improvisational,
00:05
how you can do anything at every, any time.
00:07
And this is gonna be one really stark example.
00:10
Um, so we showed you originally tango
00:15
with a gancho in one position.
00:16
But I think the point to, to make is that wherever she is,
00:20
but with whatever leg she's walking forward, I can say,
00:23
I'm gonna put a foot forward, like either behind
00:26
or right in front, bend the knee, turn out the knee,
00:29
and then take her back to a gancho bang, there's a gancho.
00:31
Um, and then she can keep moving her on.
00:34
And you know what, I can do that same thing.
00:35
I can put either leg near her standing leg,
00:40
turn the knee away from her, there's a gancho,
00:43
and then she keeps moving on.
00:45
And then I can pick either leg.
00:46
And if you were here in person, I'd ask you
00:48
to tell me which leg to pick,
00:49
but just pretend you picked left.
00:51
And I can go here and she could go gancho
00:54
or I could go with the other leg gancho
00:58
and you can go back, oh, maybe it's this leg.
01:01
No, it's this leg. No, it's right.
01:03
And you can just keep back and forth.
01:05
We should do Back and forth. Oh, right, right.
01:06
Or you can go, here's one way and then the other. I
01:10
Like that one.
01:11
Right. So, so the point is,
01:12
any step actually can become a gancho pretty much.
01:16
And you guys can play with it.
01:18
And so then what are the basic principles?
01:20
You say whatever leg is the leg.
01:22
She, I say there's the standing,
01:25
there's the weight bearing leg in the free leg for Gancho.
01:28
And so she takes a step, take a step anywhere. There we go.
01:30
So let's pretend we're taking her back into that gancho.
01:35
Then you'd be saying for the leaders,
01:39
you take your left foot, let's take to a different angle.
01:41
Same, same step mom. Uh, yes.
01:45
You'd say, Hey, let me put my foot near her foot.
01:49
Could be here, could be here. You can rest. It's okay.
01:53
Here, here, here. Doesn't matter.
01:56
But my knee is near her back knee.
01:59
It's bent, it's popped away a little bit.
02:01
And then I give her momentum
02:02
and stop with a little bit of a scoop.
02:08
And you can do that in lots of places.
02:14
And so the trick though, is not to do what we just did,
02:17
which is doing a hundred of them.
02:18
The trick is to take lots of time.
02:20
So if I were to first learn this,
02:23
I wouldn't do what I just did.
02:24
I'd say, okay, partner, go some random step.
02:29
And then I'd say very slowly,
02:31
it doesn't matter which leg we use,
02:34
what leg would you like to use?
02:35
Surprise me. Would you like me to use?
02:37
I'd like you to use your left leg.
02:39
Oh, I should use my left leg.
02:41
And then I'll take my time and I'll put my left leg here
02:46
or here, doesn't matter.
02:48
Knee bent, turned out a little bit.
02:49
And then I take her back with momentum.
02:52
So the first step is to learn to recognize these positions
02:56
and then go slowly and take your time
02:58
in lots of new positions.
02:59
And then you can create your own gancho field combinations.
03:02
So the idea is you pick one combin, one of these gancho,
03:06
and you get yourself in that position.
03:08
And you do it a bunch of times slowly.
03:11
And then you pick a different one,
03:12
and you do it a bunch of times slowly.
03:15
And then you start looking around on your own to see
03:18
how they, how you can connect her forward
03:21
leg to your gancho.
03:23
So once again, what are the things to recognize?
03:25
Take your foot, put it near her
03:28
trailing leg, or near the leg.
03:29
That's gonna be weight bearing.
03:30
When chi gancho, pop the heel,
03:32
turn the knee away and it doesn't matter.
03:35
Pop the heel, turn the knee away.
