While we're in the midst of discussing lots of different fancy things you do (or obscure options), let us remind the leaders that it's good to sometimes dance simply and sometimes dance in ways that are more complex and/or technically challenging (always assuming that what you choose to do is within the capabilities of your partner).

When you dance simply, you emphasize and grow your awareness of the feel of the dance. That makes your fancy things better. And when you dance complex or fancy, you get an increasingly stronger understanding of foot placement, the facing of the hips, lead and follow which will make the simple things better.

From website: My Name is Momo Smitt, I am an independently funded/promoted hip hop artist based in Portland, OR. My music covers a wide range of topics from recovery and personal growth to political and environmental issues. Though much of my music is expressed from a first person perspective of opinions and feelings, I also tend to take a narrative, story-telling approach while detailing my experiences through the role of "observer".

00:11
Isn’t that just so cool?
00:13
People just like gancho so much,
we showed the inside gancho.
00:17
And we can also gancho from the outside
of the person.
00:21
And on that note.
00:26
You’ll notice that the back of the knee
to the back of the knee…
00:29
..like all other ganchos.
It’s just a different leg position.
00:31
And you can do it to either side.
00:33
So go for it.
00:38
Now, some technique pointers.
00:41
For the leaders, actually for both people
the body is a little bit caddy corner.
00:46
So it’s not like we’re at right angles.
00:49
It’s that - if I borrow Alex here.
We'll do it here.
00:52
He’s here and I’m here. But I’m offset.
00:55
So if you look from the side,
you don’t see anything funny.
00:58
But if you look here you’ll see I shift over
and then the leg comes out and we can walk over.
01:06
And bang.
Same thing on the other side. Walks over, bang.
01:12
And if you watch from this angle, I’m offset.
01:15
And if you watch from this angle -
01:17
N: He’s still offset.
D: We're still basically...
01:18
...in - but it looks like we’re in line.
We’re still on our own lines.
01:22
So it’s a translational movement.
01:24
For the followers, exactly as all other ganchos,
she going to be turning her hips away...
01:32
..so that, when she walks over as he is pivoting her...
01:33
..her hips go away.
01:34
So if you’ll do both sides
with that being in mind.
01:41
You’ll see her hips turn away, bang.
Or the other side, her hips turn away.
01:50
Bang. I don’t know if it works if you don't
do the bang sound effects.
01:53
I think it helps. It helps.
01:56
Have you mentioned that it’s the same basic technique?
01:59
Actually, a brief aside,
a comment I want to make is that...
02:03
..in each of these series on different kinds of ganchos
I’m going to highlight some techniques.
02:08
But these techniques, they’re true for all of the ganchos
and all of these videos across all of the gancho series.
02:15
So we have gancho take two
and that gives a lot of technique for a basic gancho.
02:21
And a lot of those techniques apply to any
of the ganchos that you’re going to be doing.
