Vals Vocabulary - Turning Six Count Box
You can see the same basic idea of where the feet land in lots of different dances. The difference depends upon how you execute the step. We have various videos that teach tango styling. If you are first learning, just understand that it's the styling which makes the same combination look like a particular dance.

From website: Created in July, 2009 by Erskine Maytorena, a third generation tango musician and opera singer, QTANGO performs authentic Argentine tango arrangements throughout the southwest, with multiple tours including appearances in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Diego, Tucson, Sedona, Las Vegas, El Paso, Santa Fe and Albuqeurque. Specializing in the traditional tango music of the "Golden Age" of the great Argentine tango orchestras, QTANGO's dynamic and powerful music keeps dancers on the floor and listeners enthralled. Every song is a novella; a story of love, betrayal, desperation and hope. QTANGO's musicians give the audience a unique and intimate experience, an acoustic resonance only an orchestra can provide, a journey into the romance, passion and elegance of tango. Whether touring as a quartet or performing gala events with over 14 musicians, every performance is sophisticated, engaging, nostalgic, and moving.

- So, what we just did across the floor was a six count basic.
- 00:22
- Just like the six count basic we have already filmed the video about, except that we turned it.
- 00:28
- Well, except that we turned it, and we started in the middle of it.
- 00:31
- So, let's show the six count basic only, so that they can remember what I'm talking about. Hopefully.
- 00:38
- Side, two steps; side, two steps.
- 00:44
- And we have a video about that, teaching it just like that.
- 00:47
- But we're going to do, is we're going to start in the middle of it.
- 00:49
- So, we're starting it with the leader's second forward step.
- 00:53
- Side, side... I'm leading! Side, forward...
- 00:56
- D: I thought we were starting on the second step.
N: Now, we're starting. Right here is where we start. - 01:00
- This is one, two, three, four, five, six.
- 01:06
- So, we start with the second forward step for the leader, second back step for the follower.
- 01:10
- And then, all he does on his first step, is he turns it. He angles his foot just a very little bit.
- 01:18
- So, could you show angling you foot a very little bit?
- 01:20
- See, can you see that in the foot camera?
- 01:21
- So, it's not flat. This would be straight forward. This is turning a little bit.
- 01:27
- And, really, just turn it a little bit to start.
- 01:30
- Just think...
- 01:31
- Don't think you're going to turn it. Think just a little tiny bit. Because the more you angle it, the harder it gets.
- 01:36
- Of course.
- 01:37
- So, could we show, without talking, just the whole thing, starting out angling very little, and then angling more and more?
- 02:05
- And there you have what we started with.
- 02:07
- Which is hard to believe, "That's all the same step?!" It is.
