There are some ideas/combinations that share similar principles. For example, in volcada, maybe you say you lift up and in. But the "up" is true of any time you want her to not step. And the holding in is any time you want her to do something precarious (ex. colgada).

For the kicks, the idea is the throwing and catching of momentum. Often, the real thought, at least for the leaders, the lead you learn in one place probably translates to a lot of places. So you don't learn to lead a step, you learn concepts which apply within a place in a certain step.

For Followers:: Now that you're getting sufficiently advanced, we really want to focus on cleanliness, precision and clarity. So, if the leader is leading the step too fast, ask them to slow down, so you can feel the connection of the legs, the rotation, the extension and movement of the thigh, the accent and then the collection again. Each part being crystal clear.

Especially while you're learning, try not to go too fast. You can use your mouth to slow them down as well as your body.

I’m going to assume that you’ve watched
the videos and...
00:07
..know how to do gancho,
boleo and kick between the legs.
00:10
And if you do then I want this to be
one of those connective videos...
00:13
..that draws things together.
00:15
For the leaders, the lead is basically the same.
00:17
And for the followers, the action in the leg
is basically the same.
00:20
So let’s illustrate that.
00:22
One thing for the leaders,
when you’re leading a boleo…
00:25
..you go side, throw, stop.
And boleo is out.
00:29
For leading a gancho, you go throw,
stop and it ganchos.
00:34
And if you’re leading a kick between the leg,
you might go…
00:36
..throw stop - or different angle.
00:38
You might go throw, stop to get her
to kick between the legs.
00:41
So let’s do those three and watch how there's this throw
and then this stop.
00:47
What would be the best angle?
00:52
And that’s this.
00:57
We could also do, if it were a gancho -
okay we’ll do the other leg.
01:04
Throw, stop.
01:06
So we have a boleo on the side
that looks like this...
01:09
..and a gancho on the side that looks like this.
01:13
If we’re doing a kick between the legs,
here let’s say I rock her back…
01:16
..I bring her forward, I stop her.
01:18
D: It’s - new angle.
N: And then my leg keeps going.
01:24
So same lead, same lead, different directions
where you point it.
01:28
So that either you’re pointing it away
from your body...
01:31
..you’re pointing it inside one leg…
01:32
..or you’re point it right between both.
01:34
For the followers, the accent is always on the point,
the end of the movement.
01:41
And we’re going to go back as far as we can
in each of these with our thigh...
01:45
..with our hip, from our hip before we do the movement
with our leg.
01:49
And finally we’re not going to do it like this…
01:52
..we’re going to keep the torso whole
when we do it.
01:55
So here are the three again.
02:04
Or I guess she should be like that.
That should be good.
02:12
Like that.
