It's true of a lot of these videos that, even someone who is a beginner can understand what's going on. But often, to experience all of the video or apply it, requires someone who is quite advanced because the execution requires confidence that usually comes only with quite a lot of experience.

Even if you're a beginner, we encourage you to try this. We think it will help you engage in your learning process in a very different way.

Complex tangos sung in both spanish and yiddish with great authenticity.

From artist's website about one album: Tells the story of piringundines, from German cabaret to the Buenos Aires tango venue, and with the tango it will take us through a history of crossed destinies, and misunderstandings, love, and forget that we identifys as Argentinians.

00:06
A while ago, I took some Feldenkrais classes, and they had this fascinating approach to learning how to move,
00:12
Relearning how to move, which is about exploration.
00:15
And I want this series of videos to be about the same.
00:19
And what we're going to do, is we're going to start giving you some constraints, we're going to say,
00:24
That your hips will be at right angles,
00:27
That the man's weight will be on his left foot, and the woman's weight will be on her right.
00:31
And for now, at the very beginning, we're also going to say that you'll be mostly upright and that your leg will be on the floor.
00:37
And, with these constraints then, we want you to not say,
00:41
"What has David and Nancy done, or what have they taught us?"
00:44
I want you to say, "What's possible?"
00:46
And then, out of this idea of exploring possibility,
00:50
Then will be born tango steps.
00:52
And then, the next series will talk about how to make the lead work, the follow work.
00:56
And how to make the look...
00:58
Tango.
00:59
Exactly.
00:59
So, one of our beliefs, I think, is that
01:03
There's so much more freedom then we realize; that we're not constrained by the steps that we teach.
01:09
But that we need to learn the core ways that we can make something look tango.
01:13
And then how to adjust anything we come up with to make it look tango.
01:17
Almost, I want you to think that it's like haiku.
01:20
And, you add constraints so that you can have a beautiful new art born.
01:27
I think constraints are really useful in terms of creation and creativity.
01:31
And then within those constraints, you can do whatever you want.
01:33
And explore, and have fun, and then afterwards, you say, "Was that cool? Can we make it into something?"
01:38
We've done this in class, and we'd say to people, "Stand on one foot, and you can only move the other foot."
01:43
And it's really remarkably successful. They come up with these really crazy ideas,
01:48
And then we turn them into tango.
01:50
So, let's start with the next video.
