Walking - Intermediate - Ochos To Not
We have a few students who call combinations that have the followers going to their left, "dancing on the dark side". It's more difficult because that's the side where the leader has his arm around the follower, so there's less space. Because the body is closer, the step tends to be less forgiving.
For The Leaders: It really helps if you are standing with all your weight on one foot, not split weight. It also helps if the movement is clearly about the turn of the body rather than the movement of the arms.
For The Followers: Because it's the closed side, there is an instinct to step super small. We want you to try to keep the steps on this side the same size as they would be on the other.
All of this is true about the first step in this combination, but it's also true in general about any movement that happens "to the dark side".
